In an extraordinary exhibition of courage the mother of a militant during the last conservation with her son asks him not to surrender in front of government forces when he was trapped in an encounter at Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
In an audio that has gone viral on social media, the slain militant Zahid Ahmad Mir alias Hashim while contacting his mother informs her that the concerned Superintendent of Police was asking the militants to surrender, “ SP has been trying to pursue us to surrender, but we won’t,” Zahid can be heard as saying to his mother.
“Don’t even think of surrender, tell him we won’t surrender. If you get chance to flee, and then flee from the place. However, do not even think of surrender. You have chose the path of God and you have taken up arms for God. Inshallah martyrdom is the way forward,” the mother can be heard replying without reflecting any emotions in her speech. “May your martyrdom be accepted,” she says in the 9-minute long audio clip.
“You were entrusted to me from God, I have whole trust in Him. So I am sending you back to Him. May He accept your sacrifice. May you succeed in your mission. May God give you courage,” she can be heard replying to Zahid as he seeks forgiveness from people that he visited during his days as militant.
The mother also asks him about the owner of the house, “Is the owner of house courageous or weak” What is he asking? Ask him whether you can fight from his house or not?” the mother can be heard asking the militant son.
In the audio a male voice can also be heard saying the same thing, “ If you get a chance to flee from the place, do it. However don’t surrender, don’t listen to the SP. Stay on your mission,” a male voice seemingly of Zahid’s father can be heard saying.
“Hashim Bhagne walo mai se nahi hai (Hashim isn’t from those who run away from the battlefield,” Zahid replies to the male voice.
During the 9 minute, audio Zahid’s mother shows no emotions whatsoever even though she is joined by her daughter who breaks down as the conversation nears its end.
“We have entrusted our lives to the lord and we will meet in the hereafter now,” Zahid can be heard saying to his family members.
In the audio Zahid speaks to six of his family members all of whom ask him to fight till end and entrust his life to God.
Zahid along with four of his associates were killed in a gunfight in Devsar area of Kulgam district on Saturday.
