An unarmed person was shot dead after he entered the house of National conference president Farooq Abdullah, NDTV reported.
According to reports, a car rammed into the residence of the senior politician Bhatindi area of Jammu after breaking the security barricades.
The guards stationed at the residence of Farooq Abdullah reacted to the attack and shot dead one person.
Police officials told NDTV that the unarmed man was driving a car and crashed into Abdullah’s home in Jammu’s Bhatindi area.
Quoting police sources NDTV reported that he started vandalising the property after he drove his car inside.
CRPF personnel shot him dead soon after.
“The intruder breached the main gate and went inside. He had a scuffle with the duty officers there. The duty officer was also injured. After that he entered the home. There has been some sort of damage to the articles over there. Subsequently, he was shot dead,” police officer Vivek Gupta was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Omar Abdullah confirmed that the unarmed man had gained entry to the upper lobby while entering through front door of the house, “I am aware of the incident that took place at the residence my father & I share in Bhatindi, Jammu. Details are sketchy at the moment. Initial reports suggest an intruder was able to gain entry through the front door & in to the upper lobby of the house,”
The sitting Lok Sabha member Farooq Abdullah is currently in New Delhi attending the parliament session.
