Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday slammed the authorities for firing tear gas shells and pellets during clashes outside Eidgah prayers’ ground in Srinagar.
As the Eid prayers concluded in city’s Eidgah grounds, youth resorted to protests leading to clashes between the government forces and the youth, who were chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.
“Shame on the authorities who showed total disrespect and disregard for congregational Eid prayers at Eidgah today as tear gas shells and even pellets were fired on Eid day,” Mirwaiz Umar tweeted later.
He added, “How inhuman can it get! Inspite of that people showed resilience large congregation held at Eidgah.”
Clashes were also reported from Anantnag town after Eid prayers.
