Scores of people were injured in Qaimoh area of south Kashmir Kulgam district today after violent protests erupted in the area following the killing of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a commander in Anantnag gunfight this morning.
Reports said that youth hit the streets in Qaimoh when news of killing of two Hizb militants, including top commander Altaf Kachroo spread in the area.
They said that protesters chanting slogans, clashed with government forces by throwing stones on the forces.
In retaliation the government forces lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters resulting in fierce clashes between forces and youth.
They said more than 40 people were injured in the ensuing battles
