Teenager shot dead during clashes in Shopian

A teenager has been shot dead during clashes at the gunfight site in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

The boy has been identified as Tamsheel Khan son of Khurshid Ahmad Khan from Kachdoora Shopian. Khan was critically injured after being hit by a bullet during clashes with the forces. He was shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed.

A gunfight broke out in Kundalan area of Shopian on Tuesday in which two militants have been killed, said police.

At least 20 civilians have been injured in the clashes at the gunfight site. Two army soldiers including an officer were injured in an ongoing encounter.

As per the reports the army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Bemnipora area of Shopian today wee hours.

Soon after the joint team of forces fired several gunshots amid the cordon leading to an encounter, they said.

A police officer also confirmed that the gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces in the area and said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
