A gunfight broke out in Kundalan area of Shopian in south Kashmir on Tuesday.
At least 20 civilians have been injured in the clashes at the gunfight site. Two army soldiers including an officer were injured in an ongoing encounter.
As per the reports the army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Bemnipora area of Shopian today wee hours.
Soon after the joint team of forces fired several gunshots amid the cordon leading to an encounter, they said.
A police officer also confirmed that the gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces in the area and said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
He said that earlier the cordon-and-search operation was launched in the village following specific information about the presence of some militants.

A police official told GNS that the two army soldiers including a JCO suffered bullet injuries during the gunfight. Both the injured were evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital, Badamibagh, Srinagar for treatment.
