Srinagar: The residents of Mashwada village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday alleged that army men thrashed the villagers and ransacked their property on the intervening night of Tuesday.
Sources said that Army personnel entered the Mashwada village of Keller in Shopian of south Kashmir at 11;30 Pm and barged into the houses and beat a dozen villagers while damaging the property there.
They said that not only did the army thrash villagers , but they ransacked houses ,broke windowpanes of houses and damaged vehicles too.
The villagers said that the episode had created fear among villagers.
They alleged that the army did not even spare a guest who had arrived from Anantnag.
The injured were shifted to Rajpora hospital for treatment from where some of them were shifted to Srinagar for further treatment .
Srinagar based spokesman of army colonel Rajesh Kalia denied the allegations and told The Kashmir Walla that None of the soldiers were involved in the act, “all the allegations are baseless,” He said
