Train service on Srinagar-Banihal route and vice versa and mobile internet services were suspended in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district after an encounter broke out in the main town early Tuesday morning.
Reports said that suspensions were placed by authorities as a precautionary measure to avoid any law and order situation.
Earlier, restrictions were imposed in parts of Anantnag town to foil any possible protests as a gun-battle is underway between militants and the government forces in the heart of the Anantnag town.
Curbs have been put in place on the movement of people in several localities of Lal Chowk in the main town Anantnag, where two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants are engaged in a gunfight with government forces.
Mehmaan Mohalla, where the encounter started during early hours of Wednesday , has been placed under siege by government forces.
