Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday lashed out at some TV news channels, who ran a story based on a Kashmiri youth, Irfan Sheikh, whose video clip of expressing dismay towards the resistance leadership went viral.
Sheikh is seen speaking to a group of people in a room after the killing of his cousin brother, 21-year-old Qaiser Ahmad Bhat, who was mowed down by a paramilitary forces’ vehicle on Friday outside Srinagar’s grand mosque.
A few TV news channels ran the edited parts of the video, pitching Sheikh against the leadership. Mirwaiz Umar said that “this section of electronic media lives off spreading hate and propaganda about Kashmir.”
In another video later, Sheikh clarified that his speech was taken out of context by “the New Delhi based media to suit their political propaganda.” While addressing Hurriyat (leadership) as part of the family, Sheikh said that he had complaint which he put before the leadership, like a family member does.
Indian media repeatedly exposes their shallowness and frustration! The Youth of Kashmir like Irfan Sheikh who are at the forefront of the freedom movement, giving immense sacrifices, have every right to question their leadership and vent their emotions.

It is deplorable that this boy is being made a tool by this insensitive media in a vicious propaganda campaign. https://t.co/SGPKC45KdF

Actually this section of electronic media lives off spreading hate and propaganda about Kashmir. They have a deep vested interest in it. #Kashmir and #Hurriyat bashing has become a great TRP grosser for them!
