Gunfight starts in Tral

The gunfight erupts between trapped militants and Indian forces in Nazneenpora Hyuna village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday. According to the reports, two to three militants are trapped in a residential house in the village.

An official said that a joint team of Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 180 BN Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched the operation following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Reportedly, one soldier has been wounded in the on-going gunfight.

Earlier in the day, government forces launched a massive cordon-and-search-operation on Tuesday in Hayena hamlet of Tral township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Residents said that the forces asked them out so that searches could be carried out.

The operation was on when this report was being filed. As per a source, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
