2006 sex scandal: CBI court orders 10 yrs prison to 5 accused

In the 2006 Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal, a special CBI court in Chandigarh on Wednesday announced 10 years of imprisonment to all five accused, including a former DSP and a former DIG BSF, in the case.

Earlier this week, the court had acquitted businessman Mehrajuddin Malik and the then Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir Anil Sethi.

The court also imposed Mohammad Ashraf Mir (former DSP of J&K police), KC Padhi (former DIG BSF) and Shabbir Ahmad Laway with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. While Shabbir Ahmad Langoo and Masood Ahmad were imposed with a fine of Rs 50,000.

The sex scandal case hit the headlines in 2006 when Jammu and Kashmir police discovered compact discs of a minor girl being sexually exploited.
