Several people tried to corner the armed assailants soon after they shot dead Ajaz Ahmed Reshi at Mandji Sopore on Monday morning, but the pistol borne youth fired a few shots in air and fled from the scene.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that two pistol borne youth who shot dead Ajaz Ahmed Reshi, on Monday morning were 18 to 20 years old. “They were wearing jeans and were two in number. People chased them but when they reached at a distance, one of the youth fired some shots in air as a result people halted their movement,” they said, adding that both the killers fled in the orchards.
They said that soon after killing Reshi, outside a chemist shop, a stray dog chased them and bitten the leg of one of the assailants. “One of the assailants fired at the dog, killing him on spot,” they said.
“Police arrived on the scene soon after the incident, however, agitated people hurled stones at them, forcing them to retreat from the area,” the eyewitnesses said.
