Kashmiri youth receives bullet in head; died on spot

A youth has died on spot when 46 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian army opened fire on the protestors in North Kashmir’s Varmul district- 60 kilometers from Srinagar.


Eyewitnesses said 24-year old, Tahir Rasool Sofi son Ghulam Rasool Sofi of Ganaihama old town, Varmul,  received a head injury during forceful protests in Kakrhama area of the district. Tahir, a masters in physical education, was taken to a local hospital where doctors confirmed him brought dead.

Another youth, Mohammad Abbas has also received bullet injury in his leg.

Clashes had erupted in the region over the death of a Kashmiri student, Mudasir Kamran in Hyderabad on Saturday and for the return of the Indian Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru’s body.

However, on calling the district Superintendent of Police for his comments he disconnected the call before giving any details.

Meanwhile, Mutahida Majlis-e-Mushawarat- an amalgam of Kashmir’s pro-freedom groups had given a call for Parigam, Pulwama march today.
