10-year-old boy dies, toll of civilian killings in a week reaches five

Srinagar: The number of civilian killings in a week in South Kashmir’s Shopian district reaches five, with the death of a 10-year-old boy today who was wounded in an explosion at the site of gunfight. He succumbed to injuries after fighting for life in a hospital here.

Musharraf Fayaz son of Fayaz Ahmad suffered critical injuries in his head and face on January 25 after a shell exploded at the encounter site, while a group of people were clearing the debris of the house which was razed to ground by the forces during the gunfight.

Yesterday, another civilian who was shot by army had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Situation in the Valley has been tense since the killings.
