Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Saturday called for a public gathering in Shopian town on May 29 after the Friday prayers and complete shutdown in Shopian district on May 30 to remember Asiya and Nelofar on their sixth anniversary.

While reiterating his demand for impartial investigation into this incident, he alleged, “Then Omer Abdullah government played an important role in shielding the real culprits involved in the incident and they provided a safe passage for their exit. After the mass gang rape by the Indian army in Kunanposhpora, the Shopian incident of Asiya and Nelofar is the worst incident in the history of Kashmir and this incident shook the conscious of every Kashmiri. Forgetting this incident is not possible and until the involved personals into this incident are hanged in the public, the wounds of the Kashmiri nation will not get healed up.”

“There were enough evidences available to prove the hand of the government forces into the duel murder and rape case of the two daughters of the nation but by misusing the government machinery, all those proofs were destroyed and the persons who knew anything about this incident were silenced by using pressure and force. Great nations never forget their sacrifices and they do everything to preserve their history for the future generations,” he added.
