The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday lifted the text messaging ban on prepaid mobiles with immediate effect, an official said. The ban was imposed in 2010 during the mass protests in which more than 120 civilians were killed by the government forces. The official added that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah,  has ordered to revoke the restriction on text messaging to the prepaid cellphones.
