Days after the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed stated that All India Institute Medical Science (AIIMS) will go to Kashmir, Bharitya Janta Party Sunday said prestigious institute will also be sanctioned for Jammu. “We have taken the issue with the BJP high command. Pakistan today came out against the plan of establishing special towns or zones for Kashmiri pandits in Kashmir.

The country’s Foreign Office Spokesperson, Tasnim Aslam, at her weekly news briefing in Islamabad said any effort to establish special towns or zones to change the demographic make up of the territory will be in violation of UN resolutions.

“Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and the United Nations Security Council in its resolutions has clearly pronounced the status of the territory,. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are also resisting the resettlement plans,” she said.

A twenty-six-year-old youth died on Monday after he collapsed during an Army recruitment rally in Doda district, according to PTI report. Police said, Yogeshwar Singh, collapsed while undergoing screening test at a recruitment rally of Territorial Army. The youth was taken to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Prima facie it seems that the youth may have suffered a heart attack, police said, adding the reason behind the death is being investigated. Five people including a policeman and a woman were injured in clashes during an Army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district today, PTI reported.

Clashes between police and aspirants broke out at the Territorial Army recruitment rally  in Talwara belt of Reasi district. According to police, aspirants rushed towards the entrance in large numbers while those rejected started pushing each other on the way out.

Police resorted to mild cane charge as the crowd clashed with them in which five persons including a cop and a woman suffered minor injuries, they said, adding that the situation was brought under control and the screening of aspirants is underway.

Two persons from Jammu region have died in devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday, The Statesman reported. Former minister and senior PDP leader Sardar Rangil Singh indentified the two decreased as Sardar Sujan Singh and his son from Bhor camp (Satwari), the report added. He said that he has reached Delhi and was trying to get their bodies from Nepal so that last rites could be performed at their ancestral village in Jammu. The death toll in the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday has crossed 2,000.

The Peoples Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir has expressed grief over the killing of a teenager by paramilitary forces in Budgam district. “Bullets are no answer to stones and it is high time for the forces to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP). Forces need to get sensitised as non-compliance of SOP brings instability in the peace process.” said Rafi Mir, PDP general secretary, in a statement.
