A powerful earthquake shook  Tokyo and the surrounding areas on Monday afternoon. No tsunami warning was issued, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a quake that struck off Japan on Monday was 5.3 magnitude.

The tremor shook buildings in Tokyo and briefly halted some train lines, including the Tokyo Metro subway lines.

At least 29 people have died in Nepal due to multiple earthquakes that jolted the country on Tuesday. The first quake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck at 12:35 pm, followed by three other temblors that measured 6.2, 5.4 and 4.8 on the Richter Scale. In addition to those deaths, at least another 1,006 people in the country suffered injuries, according to Nepalese government information and communications ministry spokesman Minendra Rijal. An earthquake of 7.4 magnitude jolted Nepal today afternoon at 12.35 pm. Tremors were also felt across North India including, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Reuters reported that the quake’s epicentre was close to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Tremors caused panic among the People in Kathmandu, who immediately rushed outdoors for safety. However, there were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties. The USGS has also reported about another quake with its epicentre in Afghanistan measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale.

More than 5,000 people have lost their lives in the disastrous earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday, 25th April. 18 people were killed at a base camp on Mount Everest, while 61 died in neighboring India.

Rescue operations are on but still scores of people are trapped under tonnes of rubble in Kathmandu and some of the worst-affected remote mountainous areas.

Currently 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are in the Himalayan nation and are working in close coordination with Nepalese authorities.

The earthquake has been termed as one of the worst in over 80 years which was followed by 55 aftershocks.

On Tuesday, 4,300 people were confirmed dead as a result of the earthquake which hit Nepal on Saturday. More than 8,000 people were reported to have suffered injuries.

Almost 100 people were killed in neighbouring countries while 18 died in avalanches on Mount Everest.

The number of people killed in a devastating earthquake in Nepal on Saturday has risen to 4,010, the country’s disaster agency said today.

According to an update from the home ministry’s National Emergency Operation Centre, more than 7,500 have been found injured so far.

Two persons from Jammu region have died in devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday, The Statesman reported. Former minister and senior PDP leader Sardar Rangil Singh indentified the two decreased as Sardar Sujan Singh and his son from Bhor camp (Satwari), the report added. He said that he has reached Delhi and was trying to get their bodies from Nepal so that last rites could be performed at their ancestral village in Jammu. The death toll in the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday has crossed 2,000.

A low intensity tremor measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale was recorded on Sunday morning at Srinagar. Yahoo news quoted director local MET department Sonam Lotus saying, the tremor was of slight intensity, coordinates of the tremor were latitude of 28.7 degrees north and longitude of 84.7 degrees east. However there have been no reports of any damage. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Nepal region.
