Since the massive floods hit Kashmir and submerged the city Srinagar also, we had lost contact with all our staff. Most of the media houses in Kashmir are not been able to function. Today we have got in touch to Srinagar and these are the pictures from Jawahar Nagar and Rajbagh areas of the city. Several people have been evacuated and are being taken to dry areas like hospitals, schools and university for safety. A policeman was injured critically when an unidentified gunmen shot him near the Deputy Commissioner office of Anantnaag district in South Kashmir, police said. SP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad told The Kashmir Walla that the cop was identified as Fayaz Ahmad bearing belt number 638-A was hit by a bullet in his head and was taken to district hospital for the immidate treatment where from he was referred to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) for the further treatment.

Feroz-ud-Din Mir 142 years old, who last year claimed to be the world’s oldest person by providing his birth certificate, today died at his native village in Bejihama area of North Kashmirs Baramulla district at 2 am. BSF jawan Satyasheel Yadav who was captured by Pakistan troops on Wednesday. Pakistan released the Border Security Force (BSF) trooper today at 4.35 pm in R S Pura sector of Jammu division, and has been handed over to Indian authorities. Suspected rebels attacked a policeman with an axe before decamping his rifle in Pattan area of North Kashmir, some 35 kilometres away from Srinagar, police officials said.
