Earlier today a fresh Public Safety Act (PSA) was slapped against Hurriyat (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat, making it 26th PSA against him since 1990.

A police officer who had arrested Alam confirmed that he was shifted from Budgam to Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail during last night.

After 53-month long jail period, he was released in last month that sparked a controversy between the two coalition partners – BJP and PDP, in the state.

Since 2008 PSA has been slapped against him ten times and six times since 2010.

Though, he was bailed out in all the previous cases registered against him by the apex court of India.

The new PSA against him comes after his arrest for “waving Pakistan’s flag” and “raising pro-Pakistan slogans.”
