In an unprecedented flood fury more than 75 people have lost their lives across Jammu and Kashmir. Property worth crores has been damaged while hundreds of areas submerged in flood waters and dozens of bridges were washed away by the gushing waters.
River Jehlum has been over flowing since yesterday morning. An unprecedented flood situation across Jammu and Kashmir submerging hundreds of dwelling houses, sweeping away livestock and property that created panic among people.
According to the police sources, the bus went out of drivers control and plunged into the river near Noushera town of district Rajouri costing 50 lives, so far only four bodies have been recovered.
The state Navy has arranged a team of divers from outside the valley, who will start the rescue operation from tomorrow.
However latest reports state more than 700 house have been damaged across the State.
“The schools and colleges in Srinagar will remain closed till 7 September in view of prevailing flood threat” said divisional commissioner, Srinagar.
