Clashes broke out between the government forces and angry protesters in Kral Pora area of Budgam district when local residents came out on streets and demanded removal of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp from the area.

Angry protesters started throwing stones at the government forces after Friday prayers. Police swung into action and resorted to lathi charge and teargas shelling to disperse the protesters.

Locals alleged that a CRPF person came knocking at the door of a house, last night. “Then people raised alarm and he ran away. He was a CRPF man from nearby camp,” a local resident said over phone.

The concerned MLA Javaid Mustafa Mir told The Kashmir Walla that in presence of Executive Magistrate he instructed the Deputy Superintendent of Police to lodge an FIR and start investigation into the matter.

The concerned Station House Officer of Chadora, Arshid Khan said, “We cannot remove the camp as they are here as security for the Kashmiri pandits living in the area.”
