While terming the resistance of the people of Panzgaam Chowkibal as proper, appropriate and in-time action against the making of Bangas Valley a hub of ‘illegal and immoral activities’ by some mischievous people. All Parties Hurriyat Conference appealed all the self-conscious and patriotic people to rise against the use of liquor, drug addiction and the immoral activities and be united to thwart the plans of cultural aggression.

Hurriyat (G) in a statement to CNS said that the immoral and absurd activities at health resorts are going on under the patronage of government and instead of acting against these illegal activities, the police is acting against the people who raise their voice against it.

Hurriyat (G) said that the day from which the Bungus valley was declared as a health resort, the anti-social elements are trying to convert this place into a hub of liquor, drug addiction and a safe haven for the immoral and shameful activities. “This situation has become a matter of concern for the respectable and honorable citizens of that area and they have started to unite against it. The people of Panzgaam Chowkibal have shown extra courage and boldness in this regard and they tried to stop these types of elements and raised their voice against their immoral activities”.

Hurriyat expressed their surprise that instead of encouraging these self-conscious people and acting against the mischievous persons, police used force and tear gas shelling on the people of Panzgaam.

“A delegation of common people of that area visited the Hurriyat headquarters and complained that the Station House Officer Kralapora and DSP operations Kupwara played a very dirty role in this regard and instead of taking any legal action against the persons involved in the liquor trade, drug addiction and immoral activities. They tortured many youth of the Panzgaam Chowkibal and threatened them,” the statement reads.

While criticizing the role of police, Hurriyat Conference said that we are closely monitoring this issue and we are also taking into confidence the respectable citizens of that area. The statement appreciated the role of the people of Panzgaam Chowkibal and said that they are not alone in this mission but the whole nation is backing them and they will not allow anybody to convert the Bungus valley and other health resorts into the hub of drug addiction and immoral activities.

“It will be resisted tooth and nail and if need arises, the possibilities of social boycott will considered against these mischievous people.”

Hurriyat Conference appealed all the self-conscious and patriotic people to be prepared for the decisive battle against the use of liquor, drug addiction and the immoral activities and accomplish your national responsibility to thwart the plans of cultural aggression.

Hurriyat said that the enforcing agencies of the government are not only silent over this issue but these activities are running under the indirect patronage of these agencies, so it is the religious and moral responsibility of Immams (clerics) of the Masjids and respectable citizens to aware the common people about the negative impacts of this menace.
