Indian forces shot dead a civilian in Kashmir

A civilian, 34-year-old, Altaf Ahmed Wani has been killed when the Central Reserve Police Force personnel opened fire in Srinagar.

Wani is a resident of Saidapora, Srinagar and was rushed to the SKIMS hospital, Soura. He is father of four girls.

Witnesses told a local newspaper that the CRPF men opened fire on a father son duo here killing a youth. Quoting the Director SKIMS, Dr Showkat Hussain Zagar, the newspaper reports, “He was brought dead to SKIMS. Altaf was young and had received bullets in chest.”

Wani had received a bullet injury in his chest.  Meanwhile, a top police officer has said that the CRPF party belonging to 73rd battalion was rushing towards SKIMS to donate blood for their colleagues who were injured in the suicide attack in the morning. “Some youth in the Saidapora area pelted stones on the party who fired some bullets,” the officer added.
