Around 17 civilians have been injured in fresh clashes in the Varmul District of North Kashmir after curfew was lifted from the area today. The people were protesting against the continuous detention of arrested youth and the police and paramilitary forces fired pellets resulting in major injuries. Eyewitnesses said that the clashes started when policemen came in a private vehicle and took away a number of youth from the area. “So far, we have received 14 people who have pellet injuries while two people were hit by rubber bullets and one person was hit by a teargas shell,” the hospital authorities told The Kashmir Walla.The Kashmir valley has seen massive protests since the hanging of parliament attack accused, Mohammad Afzal Guru on Feb. 9 , 2013. Around 300 civilians and 100 police and paramilitary forces have got injured and 4 civilians have died so far, among which one was killed when army fired a bullet in his head.
