Bomb defusing injures five policemen in Kashmir

At least five policemen including Station House Officer were injured when they were inspecting the arms and ammunition store in Parimpora Police Station in Srinagar. Police sources told a news agency that during the inspection a bomb they were trying to defuse exploded in leaving at least five police men injured.

The injured were rushed to hospital and their condition is stated to be critical. Two men from Bomb Disposal Squad were also injured. The injured have been identified as Station House Officer, Ghulam Mohindin, Assistant Sub-Inspector Suhail Ahmed and Head Constable Mohammad Shafi.

Inspector-General Abdul Gani Mir said that the bomb disposal squad was defusing explosives seized during a recent clash between troops and militants in Bemina Srinagar. “Bomb disposal squad was diffusing a grenade and it suddenly went off resulting in injures of a few policemen. All of the injured have been hospitalized and are in stable condition,” IGP said. CNS
